5-star reviews are opportunities, not just compliments. A thoughtful response can turn a satisfied user into a vocal advocate.
Most teams focus on negative reviews (understandably). But positive reviews deserve attention too:
A generic "Thanks for your review!" wastes this opportunity.
Don't: "Thank you for your feedback!"
The user took time to write something specific. A copy-paste reply signals you didn't read it.
Don't: "Glad you like it! By the way, have you tried our premium features?"
Turning a thank-you into a sales pitch feels inauthentic.
5-star reviews often get ignored because they're not "problems." But silence is a missed opportunity.
A reply weeks later feels like an afterthought. Aim for within a few days.
Don't: "We're adding [major feature] next month!"
Only mention upcoming features if you're confident in the timeline.
Good 5-star review responses share these traits:
Reference the exact feature or aspect they mentioned.
Instead of: "Glad you're enjoying the app!"
Try: "Glad the offline mode is working well for you — it's one of our favorite features too."
Let personality come through. Avoid corporate-speak.
Instead of: "We appreciate your continued support and are committed to excellence."
Try: "This made our day — thanks for taking the time to write this."
2-3 sentences is enough. Respect the user's time.
Use these as starting points — customize for your app's voice and the specific review.
